The holiday season is officially the craziest time of year for missionary work that I’ve experienced here in Arizona. Not only is working with our friends’ schedules and getting members to join lessons difficult, but we also had yet another day and a half cut out of our schedule due to the new year so we’ve been working hard to make up for it. Speaking of which (abrupt topic change),
Book 1
Book 1: Chapter 3: Entry 11: On the Second Day of Christmas
Happy Holidays everyone! What a wonderful time of year! As you can tell by the title of this week’s entry, there are but 10 short days until we spend a day celebrating our Saviors birth. Along with plenty of Christmas anticipation, we’ve had a lot to do this week. We started the week by helping the Vehicle Coordinator to check and do some small maintainance on about 100 mission cars
Book 1: Chapter 3: Entry 10: Christmas Time is Here!
What a nice week! To be honest not much happened, but this week was a fun reminder that Christmas time is here! I don’t have much time to write my email this week so I’ll keep things short by sharing just a few fun moments. We finally set up the Christmas tree that’s been sitting out on the balcony and wrapped it in lights! One of the other Elders had
Book 1: Chapter 3: Entry 9: Turkey Season
Happy (kind of late) Thanksgiving everyone! Most of this week was pretty normal, but there were a few cool memories I wanted to share! Not much out of the ordinary happened on Tuesday and Wednesday, but Thursday was a really fun day! Being Thanksgiving, it was a full day P-Day and we spent most of the day hanging out with the rest of the Phoenix Zone. We played some basketball,
Book 1: Chapter 2: Entry 8: The End of the Beginning
I made it!!! I’ve officially almost made it through my first transfer! It’s truly amazing looking back and wondering where the time has gone, but still remembering all of the cool memories. Some of those cool memories were from this week starting with a lesson with a friend of ours named Malik that lead us to meeting another friend, a guy named Kennedy! Malik had moved in with Kennedy between
Book 1: Chapter 2: Entry 7: Be Thou Humble
What a great week! So much has happened that I almost don’t know where to start, so I’ll just share the highlights I liked the most! I had my first “mini zone conference” on Tuesday which is essentially a zone conference lead by the APs (Assistants to the President) with a smaller group of missionaires. It was a really cool meeting and we learned a lot about repentance and the
Book 1: Chapter 2: Entry 6: BlessingsĀ
What a crazy roller coaster of a week! As the scriptures say, there is “opposition in all things” (2 Nephi 2:11) and this week has been evidence of that. To keep things short I’ll just share some of the blessings from this week, but know that there were trials and lots of hard work that contributed to them happening! The week started with us going to the Gilbert Temple as
Book 1: Chapter 2: Entry 5: Service
What a week full of service! This area usually has an average of 1-2 service opportunities a week, but this week we had twice that and it was awesome! This week started with my first district council or “disco” as they call it here. It was cool to work with other missionaries in our district and hear their thoughts. Afterwards we went to our first service of the week with
Book 1: Chapter 2: Entry 4: Uphill Both Ways
Another week has come and gone! Isn’t it amazing how quickly time goes by when there’s so much to do and just barely enough time to do it? That’s how this whole week has felt so far, but it was a great feeling to realize on Sunday evening that the day after is P-Day. The new week started off with a fun reminder of home on Tuesday morning. Due to
Book 1: Chapter 2: Entry 3: South Mountain
What a place! I didn’t realize how much of Arizona is just straight desert and yet it’s still beautiful in it’s own way. It’s nice to finally be here! To start from the beginning, things began with our travel group meeting the mission president and his wife, President and Sister Law, at the airport. They’re both fantastic, and I look forward to serving with them as our leaders. As a quick rundown
