Another week has come and gone! Isn’t it amazing how quickly time goes by when there’s so much to do and just barely enough time to do it? That’s how this whole week has felt so far, but it was a great feeling to realize on Sunday evening that the day after is P-Day.
The new week started off with a fun reminder of home on Tuesday morning. Due to some smart budgeting, and an awesome member who gives us bread, I started the day with a plate of homemade french toast. I know it sounds like such a silly little thing, but it’s crazy how something as simple as being able to make your favorite breakfast from home can boost your mood! Boy did I need it though.
With the last of my first few day’s enthusiasm gone and only determination and member meals to keep me going, this week felt a little bit longer and took a bit of a toll on my body. The reason being that, as I mentioned in my last email, my area covers a mountain and is a bit of a rough bike ride. Although it’s been a challenge, every obstacle and opposition comes with blessings from enduring to the end.
One of those blessings is seeing God’s hand in my life on a daily basis. An example of this is when Elder Smith and I went to visit a member in a rehabilitation center. He had been in an accident and we went to see how he was doing, but when we got there 15 minutes earlier than planned we found his room empty. The nurse we asked said she didn’t know where he was, but that someone else had asked to see missionaries so we followed her into the room of a woman who had moved out of this ward but in the process of moving back had an accident. She had tried to get in contact with us but was given the wrong number and, without her phone, had no way to reach us. We talked to her and got her in contact with the Relief Society president, but I personally believe that none of that would’ve been possible without our Heavenly Father orchestrating it.
Along with the oppositions and blessings I’ve seen, there have been some moments that were just cool! Some of these moments include the ward Trunk-or-Treat which was a blast and a great way to get to know the members, the sunrises and sunsets which are beautiful even though it’s not summer yet, Zone Conference / Mission Tour which was a great learning opportunity with Elder and Sister Dunn, meeting a member who’s part Costa Rican, and placing my first Book of Mormon! God finds ways to make our efforts worth it!
That’s about it for now, but I love you all and I’ll catch you next week!
Sincerely,
Elder Whitchurch

Funny Story:
As my companion and I were biking away from dinner, something absolutely crazy caught my eye. Parked on the side of the street was none other than a Winnebago Journey DL, the model of RV that my family and I lived in after we moved from Costa Rica! It was funny to actually see one again and be reminded of such a cool experience.
Quick Side Note:
If you have the means and the opportunity to feed the missionaries in your area if only once a month, please do! You have no idea how much of a blessing and a help it is to us and how much we enjoy spending time with members!
