What a crazy roller coaster of a week!
As the scriptures say, there is “opposition in all things” (2 Nephi 2:11) and this week has been evidence of that. To keep things short I’ll just share some of the blessings from this week, but know that there were trials and lots of hard work that contributed to them happening!
The week started with us going to the Gilbert Temple as a district for a session on Tuesday. It was nice to be a patron instead of a worker and it’s a beautiful temple. Afterwards, we took some pictures together and then headed over to Deseret Book where I bought myself a copy of Jesus the Christ.
Wednesday and Saturday we saw some blessings in our missionary work when we met two new people who were willing to meet with us again and come to church this past Sunday! Unfortunately the first friend canceled for church day of because of some back pain, but he still wants to meet with us which is great! The second friend not only came to church and enjoyed it, but says he plans on coming consistently and wants to learn more! God truly blesses those who focus their efforts and attention on his work and aline their will with His!
Thursday we were volenteered to help serve hotdogs during a neighborhood event at an elementry school. They never ended up needing our help with the hotdogs because some of the other missionaries had it covered, so while we were there we decided to help pass out pamphlets for the Family Search table they had set up. it gave us a chance to get to know some people in the community along with some of the companies and departments that take care of it. We had a fun time talking to the people at different tables and adding to my collection of pens.
Friday we had interviews with the Mission President and it was really nice to sit down with him for a few minutes and share some of my successes and thoughts. He and his wife have been fantastic so far and I feel blessed to have such amazing mission leaders!
Overall this week has been such a cool experience and I look forward to more like it, although preferably a little less stressful! God truly blesses those who do his work and his will through all the trials and struggles that will come! God is Real and God is Good!
Sincerely,
Elder Whitchurch

Funny Story:
We went shopping this morning at Walmart to get some groceries before we did some of our other p-day tasks as usual. Sometime earlier in the week I broke my favorite pen so I made sure to grab some super glue while we were there to fix it. As I was scanning my groceries one of the employees came up and said he had to see my ID. I asked why as I pulled out my wallet and he said it was for the super glue. Confused I said something like “that’s odd, what’re people doing with super glue” to which he responded with “I dunno man, people be crazy”, checked my license, scanned a barcode code, and walked away. I guess now I can add getting carded for super glue to my two truths and a lie list!
