Book 1: Chapter 5: Entry 24: Chandler

Man, what a week! Admittedly I dont have much time to share, so I’ll just give some fun highlights of the week:

I said goodbye to a bunch of people back in Yuma before transferring over to Chandler on Wednesday. It was sad to see myself leave such a wonderful place, but my new area is a lot better than I expected!

Wednesday I met my awesome new companion, Elder Allen, and we had our first lesson with a new friend that very night. We ended up having another lesson with her on Friday and then watched the morning session of General Conference with her at a members home! She absolutely loved it so we’re excited to keep helping her progress!

Speaking of Conference, this year’s four sessions were amazing! I’d never really felt excited for it until this year, so I was pleasantly surprised with how wonderful it was. I loved the emphasis on ministering, enduring to the end, temples, and the plan of salvation from almost all of the speakers. What a powerful message shared through so many of our church leaders!

We got to spend three of the four sessions in member homes and had a wonderful time sharing thoughts and impressions with them. There are some really wonderful people in the two wards we cover and I look forward to finally meeting the rest of the ward this Sunday!

To make things more fun for this week, some of the ward members in Chandler have a gym and pickleball courts that we can use and that’s been a really fun way to exercise in the morning. What a blessing to have such kind and generous members!

Its been a pretty great few days in my new area and I’m excited to see what happens next. With not much else to share, I’ll just say that I love you all and I look forward to sharing more next week!

Sincerely,
Elder Whitchurch

Fun Story:
The members we watched the Sunday afternoon session with have a fun tradition where they make homemade pizzas for dinner that night and decorate them according to their favorite talk and everyone else has to guess which one it is. I did the Richmond temple for Elder Andersons talk about eternal families! That was some good pizza!
