Yup. The transfer has come and gone and this morning brought news of the next stop on my journey. Crazy isn’t it? Six weeks felt like a blink of an eye this time around, and all of a sudden I’m headed to Chandler after only a transfer in Yuma.
It’s honestly crazy how fast time seems to go by out here and yet I know that I’ve had to work for every moment of it.
We woke up early this morning and took what will most likely be my last trip to the California dunes as a zone with the plan to open transfer news together. Unfortunately, we were about 10ish minutes out when they dropped, so we opened them on the drive there. Ill admit I wasn’t excited that I was being transfered out because I’ve really loved Yuma and I feel as if I’ve only just started to get to know the place, but I’ve come to terms with the change and I now look forward to the adventure to come. We spent the morning hanging out at the dunes and then I talked to family while packing for most of the afternoon before ending p-day with one last zone hangout at the church. Later that night we got to visit a few people in our area and spent some time with two of our favorite member couples one last time. One of them had their birthday today so we had cake, pie, and icecream to celebrate and made sure to get a picture before saying goodbye.
Transfer news and p-day aside, its been a pretty chill week and theres not much to really share. We’ve had a couple of good lessons and contacts here and there, but the work is slower now with the heat which explains why they’re merging both areas in the ward into one (That’s why my companion and I are both getting transfered). I will definitely miss the wonderful pocket of our mission that is Yuma and all of the amazing people I’ve met here. There are some many wonderful things that I wish I could stay for, but I know God has a reason for why I’m leaving so soon.
I look forward to the opportunity to visit Yuma again in the future, but until then I’m excited to see what memories are waiting to be made in Chandler. I love you all and I’ll catch you next week! Wish me luck!
Sincerely,
Elder Whitchurch

Fun Moment:
One of the members collects, cleans, and sells cast-iron skillets as a hobby and we got to see his collection the other day. While considering buying one of them he decided to give us each a medium sized skillet instead. What a nice gift and blessing! My breakfasts have never tasted better!
