Book 1: Chapter 4: Entry 17: I Love to See the Temple

It truly feels like yesterday that I was writting last weeks email. What a blessing that time seems to be flying by!

Despite how quickly the week’s gone by, I’ve still been able to enjoy some pretty cool moments.

I finished my tie from p-day before district council on Tuesday morning and I have to say I’m pretty proud of it! I even stiched my initials on the bar as a cool finishing touch!

We met a really cool member on Tuesday night and got to chat with and get to know her for about an hour or so. She was really nice and it was really cool to hear her testimony of the gospel through all the crazy things that have happened in her life.

On Thursday we we’re blessed to be able to go the temple as a district! I truly love the opportunity to be in the House of the Lord every 3 months and feel the power and strength of his love and care for me! We enjoyed going to the 1 o’clock session and then taking some pictures afterward. On our way home we went to browse at Deseret Book and get a free drink and buy cookies at Twisted Sugar before driving back.

To finish off the excitement of the week we had an exchange with the ZL’s during which we did three services in a row! The first was making food boxes for a baptist church food drive, the second was weeding/cleaning up a members yard, and the third was moving a new sister into the ward. This all took place between 7:30 am to 12:45pm and was actually a lot of fun! After that I spent the rest of the day with one of the ZLs in their car area and had fun being part of a lesson with their friend who’s getting baptized on Saturday!

Looking back at how quickly these past few weeks seem to have been, and with transfers practically around the corner, I’ve been reminded just how much change is a blessing in our lives. We came here to earth to learn and grow and become like our Heavenly Father, but that couldn’t happen without changing our thoughts and actions once we learn right from wrong. Without repentance we would forever be stuck in darkness, but through Christ’s Atonement we have the chance to become better and continue to begin anew by partaking of the sacrament each week which brings light and life into our lives! As a member told us the other night, there is no better reality than the one we live in. A world where we have a God who loves us so much that he would send his son to pay the price we cannot pay is more of a blessing than we will ever know in this life. God is good!!!

As always, I love you all so much, I miss you lots, and I’ll write ya’ll next week!

Sincerely,

Elder Whitchurch
Mosiah 3:6-12

Funny Story:
On Thursday I was in a bit of a rush while preparing to go to the temple, and it wasn’t until after we got out of the car and one of our housemates asked me an important question that I realized I should’ve looked down before we left. “Elder” he said, “Are you wearing your sketchers right now?”…

…At least the color matched my suit
