All right. Welcome to another episode of Elder Whitchurch’s weekly email. I said weekly wrong. Sorry, weekly email.

Yeah, this one’s honestly just a quick update. There’s really not a lot that happened this week that was, like, out of the ordinary. Of course, we went and we did, you know, missionary work. So, I guess that’s out of the ordinary for you guys, but it’s become ordinary for me.

But, yeah, no, we’ve had a really good week. My companion, Elder Greenwood, he’s a really awesome guy. We’ve had, like, the most phenomenal last few weeks. This has been, like, a week and a half, two weeks since the transfer started, and he’s just awesome. My top companion so far. He is just really cool. We’ll see how it is by the end of the transfer, but I hope it will stay that way, and I plan to try and help it stay that way as much as I can.

But, yeah, no, he’s great, and we’ve seen a lot of really cool things. We’re still getting used to the area together. My old companion kind of had, like, all the notes and stuff, and so I have no idea what I’m doing. And so it’s been interesting to kind of, like, coordinate with the ward, and they’re like, “We used to do it this way.” It’s like, “Oh, I didn’t know that. Okay, let’s do it that way.”

And so they have been so kind, so gracious in waiting for us to catch up with the system.

But, yeah, no, it’s been a good week. We had a really good time teaching our friends. Our friend Mary, she’s progressing really well. She’s just really great. And so we’re hoping to put her on date soon here. We’re going to make sure to pray about it and make sure it’s the right thing first.

But, yeah, no, she’s amazing. It’s crazy to see. Like, it’s a blessing to see how much, like, us talking to her has changed her in just such a short time. Just because that influence of the Spirit that comes when we read scriptures, when we share about Jesus Christ, when we talk about Him, like, it changes people’s lives.

It’s not us. It’s definitely the Lord, because if it wasn’t, this church would not be able to grow as fast as it does. Honestly, like, 18-year-old kids, 19-20-year-old kids going out and teaching people about a church, if it wasn’t the Lord’s church, that would have crashed and burned. Yeah, no, it would have crashed and burned, but it’s seriously God who’s watching out for us missionaries and helping us out and watching out for the people that we’re teaching.

Because He knows exactly what they need, and He knows exactly how to help them with that through us.

But it’s been really cool to, like, see her progression, see her understanding of the gospel grow and to see her just light up whenever we come by and whenever we start reading. She always talks about how much better she feels afterward. And it just, it makes you day to know that you get to be a part of bringing that Spirit into people’s homes and into their lives.

Let’s see, what else?

We had some exchanges this week. We had exchanges with the elders on the res, and we actually had two exchanges with them because on, I think it was Wednesday, one of the elders out on the reservation, he got sick. And so my companion, oh, pardon me, my companion went out there with him, and then his companion, Elder Brown, came out with me into our area, and we also covered their area for part of the day.

And we had blast. Elder Brown and I came out together, and so it’s just really funny to, like, compare notes. I mean, like, hey, you remember when we got here? Like, this happened? He was like, yeah, no, I was terrified. Like, I was sweating. It was wild. And I said, yeah, that was crazy.

And it’s just really fun to, like, talk about the people that we came out with and, like, so-and-so as a district leader and the other ones over in YSA, and just all of that is really, it’s just really fun.

So we had a great time. He’s a great elder. He does good work. So we had a good day.

And then on Saturday, we had another exchange with them, our planned exchange with them, and just another great day. I had Elder Byers, Elder Brown’s companion with me in our area, and he’s just such a cool guy. He’s got about four months left, but he’s still such a, he is still such a good missionary.

Like, he’s not chunky to the point where he’s just not working at all. He’s, you know, he’s kind of like, I’m about to go home soon. This is a little weird, but he just keeps working. So he’s a good elder.

What else? I don’t really know.

We have some people with a family that we’ve been working with, and we had a great lesson with them earlier this week. It was really cool. We did like, it’s called cup duration. So we take like solo cups and we write important doctrinal like church foundation principles on there. So like baptism, let’s see what else? Covenants, the scriptures like the book of Mormon, the Bible, sacrament, like all these things that make our church what it is and makes it a little unique.

And then we like stack it up as like a cup tower as we’re explaining that like Jesus Christ built up his church in this way. And then when Jesus Christ and the apostles died, the church disappeared like the authority of Jesus Christ disappeared from off the earth. Or I guess left is a better way to put it.

And they didn’t have anything. And so yeah, and then you like take the Jesus Christ cup out and it crashes to the ground. And then you talk about Joseph Smith and the restoration of the gospel and you build up this tower again.

Oh, sorry, actually, you build it up in the small towers first and explain that that’s what other churches did. They took little bits and pieces that they could find. And then you build it up into the real tower again. And you kind of like explain Joseph Smith and anyway, I’m just rambling at this point, but it was really cool to be able to teach.

And then the dad of this family after we taught that was like, wow, that was a really, really great lesson. Good job, boys. Like that was that was awesome. And our fellowship was just sitting there like, you know, it was a cool lesson.

So it was really cool. It was really fun.

But yeah, other than that, like it’s that’s kind of it. We we’ve been working on finding people haven’t found anybody yet, unfortunately, but we’re just we’re just working towards helping the people that we are teaching to continue to grow and to learn.

And so yeah, we were having a blast though. Other Greenwood and I are really happy with this companionship and this transfer.

So yeah, that’s kind of all for this week. So thanks for listening in. I hope you guys don’t mind the audio recordings. They’re like so much faster for me. I enjoy being able to just talk and and I know you guys probably enjoy hearing from me. It’s a little more fun than just reading for 20 minutes straight.

But yeah, I love you guys. I’ll try and catch you next week. Have a wonderful week. Bye bye.
