Well, I guess now it’s official!
What a week! Between traveling, starting at the MTC, and General Conference there’s so much to share and not enough time to share it, so I’ll just write the highlights of the week to keep things simple.
Traveling from Virginia to Utah was fun and exciting! It was nice to be in the air and walking through airports once again. I loved being able to see Grandma and Grandpa Whitchurch one more time and spending the night with them before they dropped me off at the MTC in Provo on Tuesday. After getting all of my things to the residence hall I finally got to meet my companion, Elder Smith, who’s really great. We get along well and I can definitely say I got lucky. The next few days after I got to the MTC were mostly filled with classes, district fun, and all the things that come with my companion getting assigned as district leader. That has taken up a chunk of our time, but it’s still been a blessing for us both. We were also able to go to the Mount Timpanogos Temple as a district on our first full day which was a nice way to start our time here at the MTC.
General Conference was a really cool experience to have and was really inspirational, although the seats were uncomfortable and three of us elders woke up sick Sunday morning. Thankfully, we got some medicine to help and I’m personally feeling better already so I see that as a win. The teachers are really great and I’ve enjoyed the classes along with spending time with my district. they’re an awesome group and we’ve had a lot of fun together.
That’s really all I can think of to share at the moment, but I hope to share a little more in my next email. Until then, as my companion loves to say, I’ll wrap things up and “go and do”. I love and miss you all!
Sincerely,
Elder Whitchurch

Funny Story:
Shout out to Sam for the idea of sharing a funny story each week!
During our Saturday night General Conference review as a district, one of the elders who’s more on the quiet side was sharing his thoughts and ended by complimenting his companion on being a very social and fun person to be around. Immediately after that comment, we all looked over to find his companion licking his tie to which he said that there was soy sauce on it from dinner. We all laughed and it’s now one of our district’s favorite memories of the week.
